Seattle – A beautiful city in Washington

The largest city in Washington is Seattle has a population of around 610,000. This beautiful city was founded in the year 1851 and gained its name after Chief Sealth, leader of the Duwamish and Suquamish Native American Tribes. The official nickname of Seattle is ‘Emerald City’. The name is given because of the evergreen trees found in the area. Some other nicknames given to this beautiful city are ‘Queen City’, ‘Jet City’ and ‘Gateway to Alaska’.

In the event you really wish to travel to Seattle, you must not fail visiting some of the beautiful locations such as Frye Art Museum, Seattle Aquarium, Northwest Seaport, Space Needle, Ye Olde Curiosity Shop, Woodland Park Zoo etc.

Seattle is infact known to have big business centers that originate from this beautiful city. Some of the giant names are Starbucks Corporation, Amazon.com, Nordstrom, Washington Mutual, Cray Inc. etc. There are also professional sports franchises such as the Seattle Mariners, the Seattle SuperSonic, the basketball team, the NFL American football team, the USL-1 soccer team, the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders.

The main airport at Seattle is known as the Seattle Tacoma International Airport. This is a city where the standard of living is a little bit higher as compared to other cities within Washington. There are plenty of museums to visit which you must not miss out whenever you plan to visit Seattle. You will be surprised to see that there is also a museum of flights. In this museum you will find about 131 different types of aircrafts. These aircrafts are made from fabric and wooden crates. There are different types of aircraft ranging from Concorde, Boeing including the fastest aircraft in the world. Seattle is definitely a city to visit in the event you are planning to travel to the United States in the near future.
